A convicted child molester from Chattooga County has died after being assaulted by his cellmate at Rutledge State Prison in Columbus, Georgia.
Brandon Keith Bolden, 37, was serving a sentence stemming from a 2010 arrest in Summerville, where he was charged with child molestation, aggravated child molestation, and sexual battery. The Muscogee County Coroner confirmed that Bolden was pronounced dead at the prison. His cause of death was listed as blunt-force trauma from the attack.
Bolden’s death is being investigated by the Georgia Department of Corrections’ Office of Professional Standards.
Rutledge State Prison is a medium-security facility that houses approximately 640 inmates.
