Explore Georgia Announces New and Alluring Hotel Openings

Explore Georgia has announced new and alluring hotels opening across the peach state this year.

Pro Roof GA

Georgia is filled with lodging options where you can check in – to check out – as they create escapist atmospheres and unique experiences for guests. In 2021 there are multiple hotels opening across the state that are as exceptional as the destinations they call home. From a new riverside property in Columbus to an oceanfront dual-branded hotel on Jekyll Island – there are new additions to Georgia’s lodging options, providing so much more than just a good night’s sleep.

Southern Charm in Downtown Thomasville
For the first time in 100 years, there is a hotel in historic Downtown Thomasville. The new 107-room Courtyard Thomasville Downtown has opened in the heart of the “City of Roses.” The four-story hotel — an $18 million investment — has room views overlooking Downtown Thomasville sites, including church steeples, the courthouse cupola, water tower, unique businesses, and local craft makers, and picturesque street scenes. An ode to Thomasville’s art community, original pieces by local artists are displayed throughout the first floor, in conjunction with the Center for the Arts.

Rest and relax on the Chattahoochee River
Built to reflect the neighborhood’s story, Hotel Indigo Columbus at Riverfront Place is focused on all things local to pay tribute to the community it serves. The hotel is situated right along the Chattahoochee River, and stands seven stories tall with 107 guest rooms. The hotel features Denim & Oak, a ‘farm-to-table’ restaurant, and Eighteen 85, a rooftop bar with 180-degree views of the city. Conveniently part of Uptown Columbus, there are many restaurants, shops, and outdoor recreation activities all within walking distance of the hotel.

Old meets new in Atlanta
In 2021 Atlanta is gaining two new hotel properties through the renovation of existing facilities,  an ever-evolving destination for visitors. The Kimpton Sylvan Hotel transformed a historic 1950s residential building into a boutique 217-room hotel. The property features The Betty, a ground-floor restaurant and bar, courtyard dining and drinking venue, private pool, rooftop lounge, and 3,000-square-feet of meeting and event space.

The Wylie Hotel, which opened on May 17, is a fully-renovated hotel, originally built in the 1920s. The property has returned the front historic portion of the building into a vibrant neighborhood restaurant and bar with 111 rejuvenated guestrooms in the Old Fourth Ward neighborhood.

Oceanfront Marriott on Jekyll Island
What was a vacant lot for more than 15 years will once again welcome guests back to a beautiful setting on Jekyll Island. A new dual-branded Marriott will embody the Island’s goal of repurposing previously developed land within a similar footprint. The 209-room Marriott beach resort is scheduled to open later this summer and will feature 120 Courtyard by Marriott rooms and an 89-room Residence Inn by Marriott. Amenities will include the largest pool on Jekyll, a splash pad for children, fire pits, a Bistro restaurant, an indoor/outdoor bar and restaurant, a fitness center, and 2,600 square feet of meeting space.
