Chattooga Competition Cheerleading recently held an awards banquet to celebrate its record-breaking season. A season in which the Indians claimed the highest finish in program history with 3rd place at the State Competition. The third place finish in AA was the result of two clean routines on the floor at state. The season started with much excitement when Coach Liza Morgan announced the team would be competing in the all-girls division after seven years of competing in the co-ed division.
The accolades did not stop there at the GHSA tournament, Chattooga was selected as a Top 3 finalist for GCCA (Georgia Cheer Coaches Association) Team of the Year (all classifications). The team had some excitement off the mat as they were featured in the new Diane Keaton movie, POMS which will be out on Mother’s Day.
“We cheered football and boys and girls basketball to the Sweet 16. It was a BUSY but memorable year. My three competition seniors are irreplaceable. I am losing a lot of talent with those three girls but I know there’s girls waiting to try to fill their shoes. My spirit seniors will be greatly missed as well! I have a 4-year spirit letterman and a girl that tried out for the 1st time as a senior. Everyone will be missed,” Coach Liza Morgan said.
