Brantley gets a new heart

LMES kindergarten student, Brantley Palmer, will undergo surgery to receive his new heart Thursday morning.

Brantley is at Children’s Egleston Hospital in Atlanta

He has been in the hospital since November waiting on his new heart.

He will undergo the heart transplant surgery around 9 a.m. this morning. A heart transplant is a surgery in which doctors remove a person’s sick heart and replace it with a healthy donor heart. Transplants are done when a child’s heart does not work well and he or she won’t survive without a new one.

Heart transplant surgery lasts for approximately four hours.

He is the son of Ross and Eva Palmer.

Casie Bryant is the NW Georgia Regional Manager for AllOnGeorgia.
