Georgia Southern to provide free shuttle service connecting Statesboro and Savannah campuses

The intercampus shuttle will make two round trips on days that University offices are open.

Georgia Southern University is starting a new shuttle service for students, faculty and staff between the Statesboro Campus and Armstrong Campus in Savannah. The free service will begin Aug. 12, just before the start of the university’s fall semester.

“We are excited to offer this convenient service to the Georgia Southern community to further connect our campuses,” said President Kyle Marrero. “By taking advantage of this service, we become closer to serving the entirety of a region as one Georgia Southern.”

The intercampus shuttle will make two round trips on days that University offices are open. The shuttle will depart from the Russell Union on the Statesboro campus at 8:15 a.m. and noon, and it will depart from Savannah’s Armstrong campus Sports Center parking lot near the Student Union at 10 a.m. and 3 p.m.

The service promotes more sustainable practices by reducing the number of cars on the road. Available on a first-come, first-served basis, the new shuttle can transport 24 passengers and is compliant with the Americans with Disabilities Act. Any group of ten or more traveling together may contact the Office of Parking and Transportation to reserve a charter service between campuses.

Free Wi-Fi is available for shuttle passengers.

The shuttle is provided through the university’s Office of Parking and Transportation and operated by First Transit.

On football game days, Georgia Southern Athletics will offer their own shuttle, which will depart the Armstrong Campus two hours before each home game.
