FFA Dairy Show Team bring home blue ribbons

Chattooga County Dairy Show Team members spent Saturday in Athens battling for rank between the show ring gates. A total of 240 students competed for top honors and every Chattooga Dairy Show Team member came away from the contest with top place ribbons. Team members placed as follows: CHS senior Chelsea Price won 2nd in showmanship and 7th in weight class. CHS sophomore Ashley Dooley placed 1st and 5th in weight class and 5th in showmanship. CHS freshman Jorja Cooper earned 1st place in showmanship and 7th in weight class. Menlo 8th grader Addison Bridges placed 4th in showmanship and 4th in weight class. Lyerly 7th grader Mary Anna Bentley finished 1st in weight class and 7th in showmanship. The team is led by Summerville Middle School FFA Adviser Lauren Jarrett. Jarrett stated, “I am extremely proud of this group of girls. They put a tremendous amount of work and time into their animals and it is paying off for each of them in the show ring.”

The team will travel to Putnam County next Saturday. They will host a local show on Monday, February 15th, at the Chattooga County Ag Center. The show will be free to the public and it will begin at 6pm. The team will wrap up their season by competing at the state show held at the Georgia National Fairgrounds in PerryFebruary 18th through 20th.
