New to the 2019 Chattooga County Agricultural Fair will be the Agriculture Demonstration Room which will feature daily demonstrations by local gardeners, craftsmen, chefs, and experts. The classroom will be located inside of the Agriculture Building and is hosted by Chattooga County Farm Bureau.

Thursday, August 22
5:30pm 4-H – Technology Time! – Ever say, “I need a young person to show me how my phone works!”?? Let Chattooga County 4-H’ers guide you through the uses of your smart phones you may not be using!
6:30pm The Vineyard Vegetarian Cafe & Juice Bar– Cooking with Kids – Healthy Snacks Kids Love to Help Cook and Eat!
8:00pm Chattooga Co. FFA- Propagation Demonstration – Learn the basics of asexual propagation and which flower garden favorites you can easily reproduce.
Friday, August 23
5:30pm Gwen Fisher- Master Gardener Extension Volunteer – Easy medicinal salves you can make at home! Insect bites, burns and cracked elbows can all be treated with salves that you can make yourself. Mrs. Fisher will share these simple salves and how you can make your own right at home!
7:00pm Rebecca Brewer Thomas, CEC and FACS Agent – Home canning basics! Fruits, vegetables, pickles and jellies. There are basics to follow in home canning to keep you food safe and tasting it’s best! Watch as Rebecca Thomas demonstrates these techniques.
8:30pm Sophia Price – Triple Bee Farms – Making hard lotion bars. Learn the process to make these convenient, non-messy natural lotion bars to take on the go. Sophia will cover measuring, the melt, the pour, and the unmold!
Saturday, August 24
2:30pm Joy Phelan – Master Gardener Extension Volunteer- Cooking with herbs! From easy herb butters to blends for dishes, Joy will show you simple techniques to bring your garden in to the kitchen!
4:00pm Kathy Berry – Kathy’s Kane Patch – Chair seat weaving demonstration – Chair caning, or weaving, dates back to the early days of China when these types of seats were reserved for the affluent, and the wooden seats were for commoners. Today, this nearly lost art can mainly be found on heirloom chairs and rockers. Ms. Berry will demonstrate the techniques that create and help restore these cherished pieces.
5:30pm Karen Sawyer – MCJ Farm demonstrates goat milk soap making. Mrs. Sawyer will demonstrate step by step what goes in to making homemade soap. Safety, temperature control, recipes, and even what true trace looks like will be covered. If you’ve never used MCJ Soaps, you’ll definitely want to come try them here!
7:00pm Sophia Price – Triple Bee Farms -Beeswax Candle Making- Mrs. Price will melt, pour, and unmold handmade candles made of 100% beeswax with 100% natural cotton wicks. Come learn why these candles burn without dripping, and how you too can make them at home.
8:15pm Sue Burdick – Growing in a Garden Tower -Tower Garden, a vertical, aeroponic growing system, allows you to grow up to 20 vegetables, herbs, fruits and flowers in less than three square feet—indoors or out.

2:30pm Chattooga County FFA – Wiring basics and Tools – Learn the basic tools and supplies needed to wire a single pole switch, outlet, and GFCI (Ground Fault Circuit Intercept).
3:30pm Vineyard Café – Cooking Fresh from the Garden with the Vineyard Café Cooking Demonstration
