Fatalities in Chattooga County Residence

Sheriff Mark Schrader held a press conference on the southern end of Highway 100 near the Floyd County line at 12:00 p.m. to provide an update on the shooting that occurred in the Holland area of Chattooga County which left two people dead and another individual injured.

According to the Sheriff Schrader, a 911 call was received Tuesday morning at 8:01 a.m. The call was received by Floyd County 911  from the residence located on Highway 100 and was immediately transferred to 911 services in Chattooga County. The Sheriff said the victims next of kin had not been notified and he requested media to not release the house number.

Despite apparent language barriers, Schrader said that dispatch officials were able to determine the residence address and route officers to the scene. “There was some problem with language, so we were able to get to down to the scene. When we got here, we found one individual who was shot and two deceased victims inside the residence.”

Schrader said law enforcement are currently in search of a fourth individual and are unsure if the person is on foot or left in a vehicle.

Sheriff Schrader said locals should use caution in the area. “If you notice anyone walking or anything suspicious in this area to call 911.”  The only description officials were provided was that the person of interest is a male wearing white shorts.

The Sheriff said law enforcement had made some identification and all victims were adults, however, law enforcement was not prepared to release any names, genders, or ages of the victims at this time.

Schrader did not confirm that the incident was domestic but did say that there appeared to be no signs of a home invasion or forced entry.

Joe Montgomery, Special Agent in Charge of the local GBI Field Office, was on scene and told AllOnGeorgia he had four investigators working the case as well as Floyd County law enforcement.
