Ty Veatch Dominates in Kingsport

Thousands of people traveled to Kingsport, TN over the weekend to watch kids from all over the country duke it out on the mat. Young wrestlers competed in the Amateur Athletic Union Elementary Duals National Championship.

More than 600 competitors took to the mats at Dobyns-Bennett High School, all of them age 13 and under. With about 130 coaches and more than 2,000 parents in tow, organizers estimate $1,000.000 was spent in the city. With 32 teams competing this year, it’s the biggest in the competition’s 17 years.

Several Chattooga County wrestlers went to Kingsport, TN for the 2016 AAU Elementary Duals and several came home with medals showing they are among the best wrestlers in the country.

While Ty Veatch (125lbs) went 9-0 and Jacob Bond (55lbs) went 8-1, both for Grindhouse.

Veatch was the top rated wrestler at 125lbs and Grindhouse finished 4th in the Silver Pool.

Rowan Burdick (100lbs) went 5-2 as the Minions Green team won the Silver Pool Title.
