Statement from Trion City Schools Superintendent, Dr. Williams: “We are extremely proud of our CCRPI scores at Trion City Schools. Trion High School had very good growth, and the teachers, students, parents, and administrators have worked extremely hard to identify areas for improvement and implemented changes that helped to improve students’ scores. We look forward to their continued growth. The elementary and middle school experienced a slight decrease in their scores compared to the previous year. The majority of our students are scoring very high on the tests, and the students are showing high growth. We continue to be challenged with some of our subgroups. Both the elementary and middle schools have placed an emphasis on remediation, both during and after school, and during the summer to help our lagging subgroups. We used data from the spring testing of the previous year and MAP and Compass data to help prepare for this year. Interventions were put in place at the beginning of the year and are being examined carefully for effectiveness. We will continue to use the MAP assessment as “real-time” data to evaluate and make any necessary changes. We certainly cannot complain about CCRPI scores of 86.7 at TES, 89.8 at TMS, and 83.9 at THS, and a system score of 86.7. We are very proud of our teachers, students, and administrators for their commitment to excellence. We will continue to use Best Practices and teach bell to bell, and do our very best to show improvement.”
