Organization says Funds Will Be Used to “Fight Voter Suppression and Fund Critical Progressive Political Efforts”

The group launched by former Georgia gubernatorial candidate Stacey Abrams has reported a sizable amount of cash on hand ahead of the 2020 elections.

Fair Fight recently reported more than $11.1 million on hand to support voting rights and progressive political work, with more than $14.6 million raised in the six-month reporting period from July 1 to December 31. To date, over 100,000 individual contributors have supported the work of Fair Fight, with contributions coming from all 50 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, Guam, the U.S. Virgin Islands, and American military bases around the world.

According to a press release issued by the group:

Georgians spanning 119 counties and 298 cities are among the contributors to Fair Fight, with an average donation of $41 during the reporting period. Fair Fight’s 2019 major-dollar support includes contributions from the following labor unions: AFSCME, AFT, IBB, IBEW, IUPAT, LIUNA, NEA, OPCMIA, SEIU, UA, and UURWAW.

“Fair Fight’s widespread support from across Georgia and around the country is a clear demonstration of the importance of our efforts to combat vote suppression and advocate for progressive issues,” said Fair Fight Senior Advisor Lauren Groh-Wargo. “We are grateful for the over 100,000 individuals who chipped in to support this critical work, and we’re fighting every day to make sure every vote is counted and every voice is heard.”

In 2019, Fair Fight 2020, an initiative of Fair Fight, funded voter protection programs in Kentucky, Louisiana, and Virginia, three states where Democratic candidates achieved hard-fought victories. Last year, Fair Fight began funding voter protection operations in 2020 battleground states, and the number of states will rise to 18 this year. In addition to voter protection efforts, Fair Fight has and will continue to invest in electoral priorities such as the Georgia Legislative Victory Fund, a joint effort with the Democratic Party of Georgia aimed at winning majority control of the State House and additional seats in the State Senate.

Fair Fight is a PAC (political action committee) that works in partnership with Fair Fight Action, a separate, 501(c)(4) organization.
