Rome met up with the Kannapolis Intimidators Tuesday in a doubleheader, to make up for Monday’s rainout.
Rome’s right-handed hurler, Mike Soroka, took the mound for the first game. Soroka pitched a solid 7 innings, giving up only 1 run on 2 hits and striking out 6 batters. Soroka has a 2.89 ERA on the season, and continues to impress.
Rome took the first game 4-1, as Rome’s bats were on fire. Second baseman Luke Dykstra hit an RBI triple and Ray-Patrick Didder went 3-for-4.
Dykstra continues his stellar month of June, as he’s hit safely in every game this month with the exception of June 12. Dyktra leads the league in hits by a second baseman and is tied for the highest batting average (with Andy Ibanez) by a second baseman.

The second game of the doubleheader was a much different story for Rome, as they were shutout by Kannapolis 10-0.
Luke Dykstra’s hitting streak continued thru the second game, but it wasn’t enough for the Bravos.
Kannapolis hit three home runs during the game, as the Braves just couldn’t figure out how to get a man across the plate.

Rome Braves Player of the Day:
Ray-Patrick Didder
Didder went 3-for-4 in Game 1 of Tuesday’s double-header. In a month in which, Didder has struggled, maybe this is what he needed. Didder struggled just prior to the All-Star break, but so far he’s batting .350 after the break. Didder’s a speedy contact hitter who might be a sleeper in Rome this season.
