The Georgia Department of Corrections’ Faith & Character program has another class of graduates.
On January 24, 2020 Walker State Prison (SP) held a graduation ceremony recognizing Faith & Character Based program participants at the facility in Rock Springs, Ga.. The ceremony was held for 27 offenders who successfully completed the program.
The Faith & Character Based Program at Walker SP encourages offenders to seek a better way of life. The program equips participants to choose alternatives to criminal thinking and behavior through emphasis on spiritual, moral, character development, and life skills training. After graduation, many offenders volunteer in areas such as Faith and Character dorms, chaplaincy, education, and character development.
“The Faith and Character Based Program allows offenders an opportunity to make positive changes in their thinking, actions, and mindset,” Commissioner Timothy C. Ward said in a news release. “Through the hard work of everyone involved in the program, offenders are given tools to use in their transition back into society as productive citizens.”
