United Grocery Outlet Employee Tests Positive for COVID-19

United Grocery Outlet in Summerville has closed their doors temporarily after an employee tested positive for COVID-19.

A notice was posted on the door of the store stating the management has decided to close the store temporarily. The Summerville location is closed, “to ensure that we maintain the CDC Environmental cleaning and disinfection recommendations.“

The statement goes on to say that the store will close the location while they sanitize the facility and equipment.

The store says that they plan to be close for 24-72 hours during the cleaning.  Employees believed to have been exposed have been asked to go into quarantine for the mandated period recommended by the CDC.

The store anticipates reopening on Friday April 24, 2020 according to the public statement posted.

I understand the statement says that employees that are thought to have been exposed, but what about shoppers? There have been a lot of shoppers in and out of that store since it has opened. We dont know if the person worked in the back and never was close to the shoppers or if the person was a cashier whom everyone came into contact with that checked out in their lane. These are important facts for people to try and determine if they were possibly exposed to the virus.
