The Great American Cleanup is Coming to Statesboro

The Great American Cleanup is one of the nation’s largest community improvement program that Keep American Beautiful annually sponsors.
Nearly 15,000 communities in the United States participate every year.

Keep Statesboro Bulloch Beautiful (KSBB) and the City of Statesboro are excited to announce the Great American Cleanup is coming to town! The event will take place on Saturday October 24, 2020 from 9:00 a.m. to 1 p.m. with COVID-19 safety measures in place. All citizens of Statesboro are encouraged to come out and help clean up litter in designated zones around the city.

The Great American Cleanup is one of the nation’s largest community improvement program that Keep American Beautiful annually sponsors. Nearly 15,000 communities in the United States participate every year.

“We are extremely excited to resume cleanups in our community,” said Amanda Clements, Coordinator for KSBB. “We postponed the event scheduled for earlier this year until we could find a way to safely host a crowd of people given the potential for spread of COVID-19. It has been long overdue, and I cannot wait to see everyone come together again and take pride in keeping Statesboro beautiful.”

This cleanup will look different from previous cleanups due to accommodating Covid-19 safety measures. The cleanup will be a “drive-thru” event where individuals and families can drive through to pick up a packet of supplies – complete with gloves, a vest, trash bags, and a map of a designated right-of-way location – to pick up litter. Once individuals drive through and pick up their supplies they will be instructed to head to their designated location.

Location of the cleanup drive thru will be at the Statesboro Convention and Visitors Bureau and will begin at 9:00 a.m. and last until 1:00 p.m. Address of the Statesboro Convention and Visitors Bureau is 222 S Main St, Statesboro, GA 30458.

There will be free T-Shirts available for the first 100 volunteers (or until supplies last) who come through the drive thru to receive their supplies.
