Rome Middle School Library Staff Member Features: Theresa Quilici and Tammi Bramlett

The word ‘exceptional’ comes to mind when thinking about Rome Middle School.

From the students to the faculty, to the lunchroom staff and custodial workers, to the teachers who dedicate every day to training the young minds of tomorrow—these outstanding people help set a part a school that is unique and built to catapult students to success.

Theresa Quilici serves as Media Specialist for Rome Middle School and has for almost 10 years. Tammi Bramlett serves as Media Center Paraprofessional and has been a loyal wolf for over 19 years. You can find Quilici and Bramlett with huge smiles on their faces anytime a student visits the library.

Quilici’s favorite part of serving as Media Specialist is that she gets to see each of Rome Middle’s 1000+ students every day. “I enjoy helping our students find books they like, especially the reluctant readers who say they don’t like to read. There is always a book they will like,” she smiled. “I like helping others, whether that be students looking for a good book, teachers who need supplemental materials or families in the virtual academy needing help with technology.”

“Rome City Schools offers many programs and classes that you may not find anywhere else,” explained Quilici when asked what her favorite thing about Rome Middle School is. “I have one son who was part of our amazing band program, The Sound of the Seven Hills, until he graduated last spring. My other son plays football and loves it! The rigor of instruction is helping to prepare my children for college as well. My college freshman is doing well, despite his courses being switched to an online format. This is because he learned how to study and be adaptable during his time at RCS. Also, I truly believe that the demographics of Rome City Schools represents society, and I want my children to be in a school that closely represents the community in which they may work or live in when they are adults.”

Bramlett echoed these sentiments as well. “I love Rome City Schools! My daughters have been in Rome City from the beginning; starting at West End until they graduated from Rome High School. I know the school system has a lot to offer students. There are plenty of sports and activities for all students. Academically, I could not have asked for more. There are so many choices of classes to take depending upon what the student is interested in. I feel like Rome City does so much to help prepare the students to be successful in life and in their college career,” smiled Bramlett.

Her favorite part of serving as paraprofessional at RMS is getting to help the students as well. “I have gotten to know all of my students and truly learn their interests when they come in to check out. When I can help them become interested in reading, it is very rewarding,” Bramlett smiled. “Working in the Media Center, I am able to see all of the students in the school, which is wonderful. I also enjoy working with Mrs. Quilici, our Media Specialist. We work great together as a team!”

“At RMS, we are like a family,” beamed Quilici. “I thoroughly enjoy my colleagues and I am proud of how we pull together when necessary. Everyone I work with is friendly and willing to give their all to make Rome Middle School a great place to work and learn. We truly love our students!”
