The Rome Braves couldn’t come out on top of a 14 inning marathon game Tuesday night versus the Lexington Legends at State Mutual Stadium, losing 5-3.
Tyler Neslony hit ninth inning homer to take the game to extra innings, but Lexington scored two runs in the top of the 14th inning, and they would prove to be the game winners. Leudys Baez was injured trying to make a play on the hit that scored the two runs for Lexington. He left the game.
In a game started by a rehabbing Shae Simmons, the loss was credited to Devan Watts, who allowed the two 14th inning runs. John Gant also saw action for Rome.
Offensively, besides the solo homer and RBI from Simmons, Darien McLemore had Rome’s only other RBI. Ray-Patrick Didder, and Justin Ellison each had runs for the Braves.
