Soroka solid, Morales has 3 RBI’s as Rome beats Asheville 3-1

Mike Soroka moved to 7-9 on the year with a solid outing for Rome in a 3-1 road win over Asheville Friday night. Soroka gave up only one run on a homer, on four hits in seven innings. He struck out eight, and didn’t walk a single batter. Matt Custred picked up a hitless, scoreless hold in an inning of work, while Corbin Clouse got a pair of strikeouts in an inning of work, earning his third save of the year.

Soroka gave up only one run on a homer, on four hits in seven innings.  He struck out eight, and didn’t walk a single batter.  Matt Custred picked up a hitless, scoreless hold in an inning of work, while Corbin Clouse got a pair of strikeouts in an inning of work, earning his third save of the year.

The offensive hero of the evening was Jonathan Morales, who homered and drove in all three of Rome’s runs, going 2-for-4.

Kevin Josephina also went 2-for-4 Friday with a run.  Austin Riley had Rome’s other run.
