Controversial call snatches victory from Underwood’s glove

“It was a hard game to lose the way we lost the game,” said Coach Bennett reflecting on the call of a home run instead of an out in yesterday’s game against Armuchee. Ziyah Underwood made an incredible play, leaping up and extending her glove over the fence to make the out. The umpire called it a home run instead resulting in two runs scoring and Armuchee winning by a score of 4-3. Underwood was in the field of play, had the ball in her glove and kept possession of the ball the entire time.

The Lady Indians showed class after the controversial call that went against them.

Ziyah Underwood, Abby Hosmer, Abbey Tudor, and Hannah Trasher each had a hit. Trasher pitched a great game.

The team travels to Rockmart Thursday for a 5:30 game .

It was a great play, but please tell the whole story of what happened. No, she did not stay in the field of play she went over the fence and landed on her back for which the Armuchee and Chattooga coaches went to check on her. No one that was actually on the field or in the stand could clearly see what happened. I am not taking anything away from her, but this story if far from accurate and you should be ashamed of yourself for publishing it this way.

The play was made on the field of play. Then she went over the fence and kept control of the ball. Chattooga Counties Assistant School Superindendant was standing right behind centerfield and witnessed that she did stay in possession of the ball.
