The Chattooga Chamber Announces Awards

The Chattooga Chamber held their Annual Awards Banquet Thursday, March 10^th at Sarah Jane Farms. A record number of guests attended the festivities. The tables were each decorated by the Chattooga Garden Club (pictured here) with a natural open centerpiece of seasonal flowers and greenery. Special thanks were given to the club, also to John Crawford, to Deb Stowe and Misty Blackwell, and to Board members for setting up the banquet hall. The delicious meal was catered by Sweet P’s, and the bar was co-sponsored by TJ’s Package Store. Four $25 McDonald’s gift cards, donated by Jim Aaron, were given out to randomly picked numbers

as door prizes.

Due to the pandemic shutdown, this was the first such event since 2019. Therefore, the awards for the 2019 businesses and the combined 2020 & 2021 businesses were given at the evening’s ceremony.

Exemplary Dedication Award

Mount Vernon Mills

The special plaque was awarded by Th Chamber for the Mount Vernon’s work over the past few years in making necessary changes in order to remain open and a vital part of the community. Their steadfastness has paid off, and the company is now stronger than it was pre-pandemic.

The Chamber also held a Silent Auctionat the event to raise money for the Leadership Chattooga Student Edition program. In order to keep the training free for high school students, the Chamber raised over $2600 with items donated by Chamber member businesses.

Atrium Health Floyd donated a Green Egg grill and a Yeti Cooler. Advent Health Redmond donated a Taste of Chattooga gift cards basket and a Blackstone grill. Living Life On Target donated a leadership training session, Traci’s Tanning Salon donated a package of tanning bed sessions, McDonald’s donated $50 gift cards, Trader’s Tab donated a Jim Pulliam framed print and a terrarium, and Try-Con Tufters donated a large area rug. The proceeds will be used to fund the Leadership Chattooga Student Edition program to cover the costs for travel, meals and training materials. A very special thanks goes to all the sponsors of the silent auction, to Chamber Board members Zach Hughes and Liza Morgan for coordinating the event, and to the bidders.
