Calling All Artists! Walker County Seeks Proposals for a Tourism Mural at Annex II

Proposals must be submitted to the Chamber by 5:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 30.

Walker County Government just recently replaced an old brick wall with a new concrete block wall at its Courthouse Annex II building. The wall now stands as a blank canvas, just waiting to be filled.

The county enlisted the help of the Walker County Chamber of Commerce to find an artist to design and paint a large mural on the wall. The approximate dimensions of the mural would be 70 feet (length) x 10 feet (height).

Artists are encouraged to create a colorful, contemporary work that incorporates tourism related experiences available in Walker County, as well as the “Walker Rocks” logo.

The artist selected for the project will receive a stipend for an original work to be painted. Materials used to construct the mural should be projected to withstand weather for up to 10 years.

Those interested in applying for the project should download the Request for Proposal and follow the submission guidelines. Proposals must be submitted to the Chamber by 5:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 30.

Proposals should be emailed to lisa@lisaheyer.com with the subject line “Walker County Mural Proposal” or mailed in a sealed envelope to:

Walker County Chamber of Commerce

What a waste of tax payer money. Painting a mural for what. There no Tourist in walker or catoosa county. Someone bright idea since Ringold painted Dolly on side of the wall.
