Max Fried struck out 11 over 7 2/3 innings, leading the Rome Braves over the Charleston RiverDogs in a 4-1 win on Saturday.
Fried (9-7) allowed one run and three hits while walking one to get the win.
Charleston started the scoring in the second inning. After being hit with a pitch with two outs in the inning, Kane Sweeney advanced to second on a balk and then scored on a double by Hoy Jun Park.
After tying the game in the third, the Braves took the lead for good with three runs in the fifth inning. Austin Riley hit a two-run double and then scored on a double by Justin Ellison en route to the three-run lead.
Christian Morris (8-6) went 4 1/3 innings, allowing four runs and six hits while striking out five in the South Atlantic League game. Devan Watts pitched 1 1/3 scoreless innings for his 10th save of the season.
