“That Saturday was hot and painful. We arrived hungry and sleepy after a long trip. We unloaded the trailer, I know the reason we worked hard unlike any other band all summer and got our show on and decent in two weeks we cried, sweated, and bled together. Not knowing that we would do something that our marching band has not done in years sweeping away every trophy in our class,” said Zac Gilbreath about the first competition.

Although the Band earned perfect marks the students still had another goal, best in show, and at the Chief Ladiga Marching Festival in Piedmont, out of 14 bands, the Chattooga Marching Indians awed the crowd with their performance of Beatles music and an interactive show that captured the audience and left everyone cheering, and they were declared Blue Division Award winner. The epic blue division award is a compilation of a band’s total scores. Chattooga scored the highest and was the best of the best out of all A and AA bands at the competition. This was the first time in many years Chattooga has claimed that title. The band also scored superior in drum major, colorguard, percussion, and band.

The winning continued at Pierce county this past weekend at the Sound of Silver Invitational. The Chattooga County Marching Indian Band earned all superior ratings and the most determined to win award for traveling over eight hours to compete.  The Band did get a little treat after the competition and visited the Okefenokee Swamp.
Drum Major, Dana Chadwick had this to say about her band: “I love everyone in my band and I’m very proud of all the hard work they have done. I’ve been in the marching band since 7th grade and this the most successful we’ve ever  been and they will continue to do better as a group. At the end of the day my score doesn’t matter to me, I just want my band to know how amazing they are and for them to know they did a great job. I’m sad this is my last year in band but I do know we’ve had an amazing season and hope they know they their drum major is very proud of all the hard work that has been done.”
