Larry Mays Steps in as VP for College Advancement at Ogeechee Tech

Ogeechee Technical College president, Lori Durden, announced recently that Larry Mays will assume the position of Vice President for College Advancement effective February 1, with the retirement of Michelle Davis, who formerly held that position at the College.  Davis retires after 5 years with the College, where she oversaw the Ogeechee Technical College Foundation, the fundraising entity in support of the College.

Mays comes to Ogeechee Tech after 23-plus years at Georgia Southern University.  He started at Georgia Southern as the Head Men’s Golf Coach and re-established Eagle Golf as a perennial power in the collegiate ranks.  While coach he was an integral part of helping the Georgia Southern Athletic Foundation design and fundraise the $1.3 million for the Bennett-Ramsey Golf Center, a 25-acre practice facility with the 6,000 square foot Howard House that serves as the headquarters for the Eagle men’s and women’s golf programs.

In August 2021, Mays entered a full-time fundraising role for Athletics, serving as the Senior Associate Athletics Director for Leadership Giving.  For the past 15 months, Mays has served as a Director of Development in the University Advancement office. “We are excited to have Larry step into such an integral position at our college,” said Durden. “His experience and leadership in fundraising will be a valuable asset to an OTC Foundation that is seeing unprecedented growth.”

A 1997 graduate of Berry College with a bachelor’s degree in marketing, Mays added a master’s degree in sports administration from Georgia State in 2000. He is married to the former Ansley Claire Calhoun of Savannah. The couple resides in Brooklet, Georgia, with their daughters, Reagan and Riley.
