In honor of National Donate Life Month, Leah Ozment, the mother of organ donor Thomas Manning, will throw out the first pitch at the Rome Emperors game on April 9 at 6:00 p.m. A special video tribute to Thomas will also be shown during the event.

Leah Ozment invites all those who have supported her family throughout their journey in Northwest Georgia and beyond to join her at this meaningful event. Having spent many years in the area, Leah hopes to see strong support from the community.

“I want anyone who knew Thomas, went to school with him, taught him over the years, played sports with him, graduated with him, anyone who knew him to come out and support him,” Leah said.

Thomas and his friends celebrate at a birthday party.

Thomas “Tom” Manning, aged 19, tragically passed away on November 21, 2022, as a result of injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident. Despite the sorrow of his untimely passing, Tom’s compassionate legacy lives on as he generously chose to be an organ donor.

LifeLink of Georgia has facilitated numerous opportunities for Leah to share Thomas Manning’s story, providing her a sense of purpose and connection.

Through these events, Leah aims to raise awareness about the importance of organ donation and honor her son’s memory.

Thomas enjoyed playing baseball when he was growing up in Lyerly, Georgia.

“I am grateful for the support of the Rome community and beyond as we continue on this new journey,” says Leah. “I encourage everyone to attend and support organ donation.”

Attendees are encouraged to wear green to support Thomas and organ donation. “WEAR GREEN! Shamrock green, lime green, just bright green! I will be sitting in section 100, row 3. I am asking others to get tickets in section 100, 101, or 102,” Leah announced on Facebook.
