Safety Alert: Schools Reopen, Bus Transportation Reminders

Update and Reminders from Bulloch County Schools:

Thank you Bulloch County. Overall our morning bus routes worked well on August 12 as we returned to school after being closed a week and considering the challenges our community is facing after Tropical Storm Debby. It’s a joy to have our schools filled with students learning today.

It will continue to take all of us working together to get students home safely this afternoon. We ask for you to remember these tips:

 Questions or Concerns: If you have any questions or concerns about your child’s school bus route, please use the Transportation Helpdesk at www.bullochschools.org/bus. We’re here to help! 

  Buses are different from cars: Your dirt road may have reopened for car traffic, but buses are different. Until cleared by public safety to do so, school buses will not travel on any dirt roads.  

   No Unauthorized Changes: Bus drivers are not authorized to change bus stops. Please stick to the designated stops for everyone’s safety and efficiency. If you have any questions, contact the Transportation Helpdesk at www.bullochschools.org/bus. Thank you for your understanding!   

 Safety First: Due to expected delays and safety, we ask parents to please stay with your children until the bus arrives in the morning. For those with temporary alternate bus stops, please bring your child to the stop, don’t let them walk along roadways, and try to be on time when the bus brings them back to the alternate stop in the afternoon to help prevent delays. Children who are not picked up at their alternate bus stop will be returned to the school, and we will contact you. Safety is our priority! 

  Alternate Bus Stops: We understand that using alternate bus stops in challenging. Please know that we’re doing our best to ensure safe and efficient routes. We appreciate the families who showed patience and kindness to our bus drivers this morning. Keep the encouragement coming.   

 Expect Delays: School buses will be late today and likely all week. Rest assured, our School Nutrition team will provide breakfast for any students who arrive late.  We’re here to support you! 

 Bus Driver Shortage: Like many areas nationwide, Bulloch County is experiencing a bus driver shortage, causing delays even on normal days. If you’re interested in joining our team, apply at www.bullochschools.org/jobs.
