Berry College Chosen to Host 2028 NCAA Tennis Championships

If you build it, they will come…

The NCAA announced on October 2 that the Rome Tennis Center at Berry College has been selected to host the DIII Men’s & Women’s Tennis Championships for the 2027- 2028 season.

For the fourth time in its history, the NCAA conducted a comprehensive site selection process, putting most of its championships up for bid simultaneously. The NCAA received more than 1,200 bids from member schools, conferences, cities and sports commissions across 47 states and Washington, D.C., all competing to host predetermined rounds for 87 of the NCAA’s 90 championships.

“The enthusiasm and interest from around the country to host NCAA championships continues to be a testament to the quality of our events,” said Lynda Tealer, NCAA senior vice president of championships.

Ann Hortman, director of Rome Sports, was thrilled to make the announcement.

“Our partnership with Rome Tennis Center, Berry College, the community at-large and our incredible collegiate fan base ensures an unrivaled and memorable championship experience for the student-athletes like no other,” Hortman said.

Rome Tennis Center at Berry College has been recognized as a USTA Outstanding Facility and is the nation’s largest single-surface facility boasting 57 courts across 30 acres. This city owned facility was built as a 2013 SPLOST project on property donated by Berry College.

“Rome is honored to have been selected to host this prestigious event. We take pride in sharing our city and facilities with the teams and fans and showcasing our renowned southern hospitality,” said Sammy Rich, Rome City Manager.
