Statesboro Murder Investigation from 2012 Still Active

The Statesboro Police Department is still investigating the murder of Akeila Rochelle Martin four years after her death.

At approximately 2:50 am on August 19, 2012 Akeila Martin was shot and killed in the parking lot the Platinum Lounge in Statesboro. Officers were on patrol in the area when they heard multiple gun shots and rushed to the scene.

Officers located two victims, Sadondra Brianna Scarboro and Akeila Martin. Scarboro was transported to the hospital and treated for her injuries.

Detective Keith Holloway, along with responding officers, interviewed a large number of people that were on scene at the time of the shooting. There was a large crowd of approximately 200-300 people in the parking lot when the incident occurred. The case was turned over to Detective Holloway for investigation.

The case has been under investigation for the last four years. Although a reward is being offered for information leading the arrest and conviction of the offender, no one has come forward with information leading to the identification of a suspect. The SPD as well as family members of Ms. Martin urge anyone with information to come forward.
