Detective Kristen Snead Hearne Memorial Foundation: Back the Badge Festival and Back the Badge Benefit Concert

Detective Kristen Snead Hearne Memorial Foundation, a newly-established foundation, will be holding its first two fundraising events on Saturday, March 24, 2018.  Back the Badge Festival will take place at the Summerville Civic Center from 8 AM to 4 PM, and Back the Badge Benefit Concert will be held at New Generation Church of God from 6 PM to 9 PM.

Detective Kristen Snead Hearne was tragically killed in the line of duty in Polk County on September 29, 2017.  Her younger brother, Patrick, began the process of establishing a memorial foundation to honor her memory and her sacrifice shortly after her death.  Detective Kristen Snead Hearne Memorial Foundation will provide scholarships to high school seniors at Rockmart High School and Cedartown High School who have the career goal of entering into Law Enforcement or Criminal Justice.  The foundation will also provide addiction recovery sponsorship and Christmas sponsorship to the children of families who would otherwise be unable to provide Christmas to their family/loved ones.

Back the Badge Festival will take place on Saturday, March 24, 2018 from 8 AM to 4 PM at the Summerville Civic Center, 44 Highway 48.  This event will be free to the public and will feature direct sales, small business, and arts/crafts vendors from the tri-state area.  Vendors will be providing donated items to be placed into a silent auction to help raise funds for the foundation.  There will also be a live DJ at the festival, providing entertainment and karaoke.

Back the Badge Benefit Concert will be held that same evening at New Generation Church of God in Summerville, 11 Kirby Street, from 6 PM to 9 PM.  Detective Kristen Snead Hearne Memorial Foundation is excited to announce the bookings of Just One Band (Summerville), Heartfelt Ministry (Rome), and Kate Watson (Angleton, Texas).  Local artists Amber Maxey, Charlie Long, and Shelia Minard will also be performing.  A donation at the door to Detective Kristen Snead Hearne Memorial Foundation is asked as admission to the concert, and a love offering will be taken for the three main groups performing.

All funds raised from these events will be used to help fund the foundation’s programs and activities.  Members of the community who wish to volunteer in any aspect at these event are asked to visit the foundation’s website (https://www.dkshmf.org) and fill out the “Get Involved” page.  Questions and comments can be directed to the foundation by email: info@dkshmf.org.
