Chattooga / Trion Update

The 2015 Chattooga vs Trion scrimmage game is in the books and both teams have some positives to take away. In spite of the 7-7 tie, both offenses found ways to move the football and both defenses saw things to work on. The Indians opened the scoring  early in the 1st quarter with a long methodical drive, just as coaches were hoping for.

Trion, in spite of being forced to punt on their opening possession, put together a long scoring drive of their own in the 2nd quarter to tie things up 7-7. The Indians threatened with their 2 minute drill until a 32 yard pass from QB Cam Evans was called back for holding. The Indians stalled and the Bulldogs gave their fans something to look forward to with a few well placed passes of their own.

The drive came up short as time expired in the half. The first half saw varsity players from both squads mixing it up in a setting much like an actual game but the second half was all about evaluating. With various scenarios for each offense and no special teams or turnovers, the 2nd half featured back up players and JV players getting a chance to learn, grow, and show the coaches what progress has been made and what work has yet to be done.

Watch as Indians Defensive Coordinator, Bob Smith talks a little about his defense’s performance in the opening half of play.
