Two Schools, One Faith

CHS Fellowship of Christian Athletes teamed up with Trion High and Middle School FCA Chapters to host Fields of Faith recently at Chattooga High School football stadium. The stadium was transformed from a sports venue to a field of faith. The faith event drew a crowd of over 250.

The student led event focused on spreading the word of Jesus Christ. Opening music was performed by Brad and Kari Groce and their children and included Amazing Grace and Lead Me to the Cross.  Their daughter Abby joined them on stage to sing ‘Oceans’ in which she awed the crowd. Abby is 13-years old and a student at Lyerly Middle School.

The crowd was welcomed by Chattooga football star, Armand Ford. Trion High School student Kristen Hankins gave the opening prayer. Students from both schools sang and gave their testimonies, including Madison Langston and Jayden Blackwell. It was truly amazing to see the poise these students had when standing up talking about their personal journey with Jesus. The students shared what God had done in their lives, read God’s word and led the crowd in an amazing time of worship and fellowship.

Trion High School students performed Good, Good Father followed by the sign team from North Summerville Baptist Church, watch the performances here.

Tab Gable, former football coach and current FCA Leader in NW GA introduced his former student and guest speaker LaFayette High alumni Austin Whitten. Whitten was 15-years old on June 9, 2012 and stood 6’4″, a three-sport athlete who was already being recruited when he did a belly flop into a pool and was paralyzed from the chest down as a result. Whitten told the crowd that if he could go back to that exact moment in time he wouldn’t change anything, “because that would be me, not God.”
