The Bulloch County Sheriff’s Office arrested a 13 year-old 7th grade student at William James Middle School in reference to a threat made by the student on Tuesday, May 8.
According to BCSO, during school hours on Tuesday, the student told an associate of his that he should not come to school the next day, because he was “going to shoot up the school”. The associate told school administration about the threat this morning. Administration reported the threat to the School Resource, Deputy James Revell.
After obtaining statements from witnesses, Deputy Revell, along with school administrators, questioned the suspect. He admitted to making the statement, and said he “was only joking”. The juvenile was arrested and transported to the Bulloch County Sheriff’s Office, where he was booked into the jail and charged with 1 count of Terroristic Threats and 1 count of Disruption of Public School.
From BCSO: Juvenile Services was contacted about the case and per their decision the juvenile was released into the custody of his guardians. This case will be forwarded to the Juvenile Services and the District Attorneys Office for further court proceedings. Sheriff Brown would continue to ask that anyone who hears or has knowledge of anyone making THREATS towards our schools, teachers, or students is asked to report this immediately to law enforcement.
