
The Bulloch County Board of Education will meet for three scheduled events on Thursday, October 13, at the school district’s Central Office, located at 150 Williams Road in Statesboro. Guests should enter entrance A.
Beginning at 5 p.m., in the boardroom, the Board will have a special called session for a student hearing, and afterwards its regular session will begin promptly at 6:30 p.m. Between the two sessions, at 6 p.m., the Bulloch County Foundation for Public Education and the Board will also host a reception for teachers who are recipients of the Foundation’s fall innovation grants. These teachers will also be recognized during the Board’s regular session.
The regular session is open to the public; however due to student privacy, the executive session portion of the special called meeting is closed to the public.
For the regular session, there is a time on the agenda for public participation. Guests who wish to speak should arrive prior to 6:30 p.m. to sign in on the provided sheet at the podium.
The community can also send public comments to the Board of Education at any time. This can be done either to Board members’ individual email addresses, to the Board’s group email, or to the Board’s attention via Superintendent of Schools Charles Wilson at 912.212.8500 or to the superintendent’s email.
Key topics for the meeting include the following: (1) recognition of the Foundation’s fall innovation grant recipients; (2) a proposal to purchase mobile classroom units; and (3) a proposal to place on the table for review recommended revisions to Board Policy JBD – Absences and Excuses.
