Bulloch County shows mediocre turnout for May 24th primary

With just over 71,200 residents, Bulloch County has 33,515 registered voters. How many of those turned out for Tuesday’s  general primary election?

Let’s consider it by race:

Bulloch County Sheriff

  • 8,517 Republicans
  • 813 Democrats
  • 9,330 total votes for Bulloch County Sheriff races
  • 27.8% of voters cast a vote for Bulloch County Sheriff’s candidates
  • In the contested Republican Sheriff’s race, 25.4% of voters made that decision for the county.

Superior Court Judge

  • 9,436 total votes
  • 28.15% of voters cast a ballot in this race – That’s MORE than the total votes for Sheriff.

Probate Judge 

  • 9497 total votes
  • 28.3% of registered voters (This could be due to the fact that nonpartisan races appeared on Republican, Democrat & nonpartisan ballots)
  • In the contest primary against Aaron, DeLoach, Ellis, Wadley & Waters, more people cast a vote in this race than any other race in Bulloch County.

United State Senate Race -(Johnny Isakson & Cheryl Copeland won Bulloch County)

  • 8,074 Republicans
  • 927 Democrats
  • 9,001 total votes in the US Senate race
  • 26.8% of registered voters cast a ballot in the US Senate race

RULES FOR THE RUNOFF ELECTION:

  • If you were eligible to vote in the May 24th primary and DID NOT, you can still vote in the July 26th runoff election.
  • If you DID vote in the May 24th election, you must pull the same ballot (Republican, Democrat, or Nonpartisan) that you did on May 24th.
