Bulloch County Sheriff’s Office deputies made three felony arrests during routine patrols over Memorial Day weekend.
From BCSO:
Sheriff Brown wanted to take a moment and recognize our Road Patrol Deputies for the job they do on a daily basis, responding to calls for service and patrolling Bulloch County. Over the past holiday weekend Deputies made several felony arrests in addition to answering their normal volume of calls. Sheriff Brown stated these Deputies were out patrolling Bulloch County during the holiday while most of us were at home spending time with our families. He also emphasized how important proactive patrolling is in keeping Bulloch County safe by removing wanted persons from our streets. He would like to commend the Deputies for their attention to detail which was a major factor in making these arrests. He noted that in at least two of these cases advanced technology was utilized in detecting and identifying wanted persons. All three offenders were transported to the Bulloch County Jail to await further court action. A brief synopsis of each of these three events appears below:
On May 25th Sgt. Ken Kelley attempted to stop a vehicle in the area of Hwy 67 and Gus Denmark Rd. after receiving an alert from his in-car license plate reader that the registered owner of the vehicle had a suspended driver’s license. Initially the vehicle attempted to evade Sgt. Kelley by pulling into a private residence. Kelley was able to apprehend the driver, Omar Jackson, before he could flee on foot. Jackson was confirmed to have a suspended license. During a search of his person a suspected ecstasy pill was located. Jackson stated that he was currently on bond out of Chatham County for trafficking ecstasy and was supposed to be wearing an ankle monitor.
On May 25th Deputy Richard Beckum conducted a routine traffic stop near Hwy 301 S. and Sandpiper Dr. The passenger in the vehicle, Shavaris Johnson, who was identified using a “Rapid I.D.” scanner after giving a false name, was determined to have two outstanding felony warrants for probation violation and failure to appear in court.
On May 26th Cpl. Tanner White encountered a subject on foot who was behaving suspiciously near the Red Roof Inn. The subject was identified as Zimiko Jones and was determined to be wanted for an outstanding felony warrant.
