The Statesboro Police Department has arrested three juveniles for vehicle theft and fleeing officers.
Early Sunday morning, SPD officers responded to a call about two vehicles had just been stolen from Parker’s on Northside Drive East. Officers located and attempted to stop the vehicles on Veterans Memorial Parkway. One of the vehicles fled and struck a culvert after turning onto Zetterower Road. The driver was taken into custody.
The second vehicle fled into Screven County, where the pursuit was picked up by the Sylvania Police Department. Sylvania PD officers arrested two juvenile offenders after the vehicle crashed. The juveniles were turned over to Statesboro PD Officers at the Screven County Jail.
Two of the juveniles have been charged with theft by taking – motor vehicle, fleeing or attempting to elude – felony, and driving without a valid license. The third has been charged with theft by taking – motor vehicle and fleeing or attempting to elude – felony.
The Department of Juvenile Justice was contacted in regards to the three juveniles. Detective Tommy Brown with the Criminal Investigations Bureau is still investigating the case and no further information is being released at this time.
