The Statesboro Police Department is investigating a homicide that occurred on Saturday evening.
The agency says it was dispatched to Morris Heights Apartments on Morris Street in Statesboro on Saturday, October 31 just after 11:20 P.M.
The call reported a male who had been shot. When officers arrived, 37-year-old Malcolm Jerome Steele was found suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Steele was transported to East Georgia Regional Medical Center where he was pronounced dead. Steele’s family has been notified of his death.
Detectives worked throughout Saturday night and into Sunday processing the scene and following up on leads. No arrest has been made in this case and the investigation is ongoing. SPD says ‘the public’s cooperation is essential in resolving any homicide investigation.’
