Statesboro Police Dept Investigating Aggravated Assault on Lanier Drive

Statesboro Police Department detectives are investigating a shooting incident that occurred Sunday evening at an apartment on Lanier Drive. The victim appeared to have a non-life threatening gunshot wound, but was transported to Memorial as a precaution. After speaking with witnesses and processing the scene, it was concluded that the shots were fired after a verbal altercation. Witnesses observed three males fleeing the scene.

On 7/9/23 at 8:00 p.m. SPD Patrol officers responded to an apartment in the 200 block of Lanier Drive for a male with a non-life threatening gunshot wound to the shoulder. Officers arrived and rendered aid to the adult male, who was later transported to Memorial in Savannah as a precaution. Detectives arrived to speak with witnesses and process the scene. It appears the shooting began with a verbal altercation after which the shots were fired. Three male suspects fled the scene in an unknown direction after the shooting.
