Ogeechee Technical College (OTC) launches a Cybersecurity Club to encourage an active interest in cybersecurity and promote cybersecurity awareness, education and skill development among its members and college community.
“Myself and our students are excited to embark on this journey of further developing our abilities in Cybersecurity,” said Terry Hand, OTC’s Cybersecurity instructor. “We will be doing advanced training and competing in advanced cybersecurity capture the flag competitions. We will also help educate the community on cybersecurity awareness.”
The club held their first meeting in mid-June and will aim to also provide a platform for collaboration, networking and support for individual and team competitive sport experiences among students. Working toward this goal, the active membership of the club will endeavor to increase their own knowledge of cyber skills by means of participating in Capture the Flag (CTF) events, penetration testing labs, cyber ranges, challenges, field trips, guest speakers, and seminars.
As an added measure, the club will help students explore careers in cybersecurity and assist students in job placement.
