On Friday evening at the Chattooga/Trion Football game the Chattooga Baptist Association will begin it’s attempt to honor the memory of two former pastors and create a legacy for them at each of the two schools. The Jimmy Bryant and Steve Pickern Scholarships are being created by the Chattooga Baptist Association to remember these two faithful servants of our community.
Jimmy Bryant served South Summerville Baptist Church and Pleasant Grove Baptist Church for many years.
Steve Pickern served SonRise Community Church for several years as well.
At last year’s annual meeting the messengers of the CBA voted to create scholarships in memory of these pastors for each school. These scholarships will be awarded to a male and female student at each school this spring.
The fundraising effort will begin this Friday night and continue throughout the year. At Friday night’s football game people are encouraged to participate by donating to the effort on behalf of Trion or Chattooga.
For every $50 accumulated for each school that school earns a field goal, once that amount reaches $100 that school earns a touchdown. There will be a traveling trophy that will be housed at the winning school until the next fundraiser.
Bragging rights and the opportunity to help further the education of our local students are on the line.
Calling on all Bulldogs and Indians to show your support. Thank you in advance for honoring these men and making a difference in the lives of our students.
