Atrium Health Floyd is now accepting applications for the Rise to Success program, which will pay students’ tuition, books and fees as they work toward an associate degree in a healthcare field.
Participants will be expected to work part time at Atrium Health Floyd as they work toward their degree and continue to do so for one year after they receive it.
The students will also be encouraged to pursue their bachelor’s degree and will be provided with a career coach to help them reach their goal.
“Nationwide, there’s a growing need for health care workers and we want to empower young people to seek these careers while earning their degree and gaining work experience close to home,” said Gina Keadle, chief human resource officer for Atrium Health’s Georgia region. “This program helps to remove barriers to education and provide an entry path into health care careers while offering an opportunity to earn income.”
Most of the students will likely be attending Georgia Highlands College or Georgia Northwestern Technical College.
Alyssa Dixon, who graduated from Unity Christian School in 2023, is currently working as a transporter at Atrium Health Floyd Medical Center.
“My experience with the Rise to Success program has helped me find a relatable job, giving me firsthand experience in the hospital, all the while learning in school debt-free,” Dixon said.”
Applicants for the upcoming class must graduate from high school with a minimum GPA of 3.0 and be at least 18 by July 15, 2024.
