Beloved Rescue Dog Rooster Tragically Killed by FedEx Driver, Community Mourns

Earlier this week, TMMA Farms, a Chattooga County animal sanctuary dedicated to rehabilitating animals, shared a heartbreaking incident involving one of their cherished rescue animals. Rooster, a Corgi who had overcome extraordinary challenges, was tragically struck and killed by a FedEx driver, sparking community outrage and a response from the company.

Rooster arrived at TMMA Farms as a six-week-old puppy unable to use his back legs. Through dedicated rehabilitation, including physical therapy and the use of a specialized wheelchair, the sanctuary helped Rooster regain his mobility. Against the odds, he learned to run, becoming a symbol of resilience and hope.

Tragically, Rooster’s journey was cut short on Saturday when a FedEx driver entered the sanctuary’s driveway and struck him.

A FedEx spokesperson issued a statement extending sympathies and confirming an investigation into the matter.

Rooster was a favorite among visitors and staff at TMMA Farms, which plans to honor him in their 2025 calendar. His story continues to inspire, reflecting the sanctuary’s mission to give every animal a chance at a better life.

This is the email AllOnGeorgia received regarding the incident:

A fedex driver killed our dog

To whom it may concern,

FedEx apologized, that’s it and, that is after I called 3 times and finally called corporate.

This was a miracle dog that came to our sanctuary at 6 weeks old. He couldn’t use his back legs. We are known for wheelchair kids around here because of Itty Bitty and Dobby, 2 goats in wheelchairs.

Rooster beat the odds. We spent months doing physical therapy with him, using a wheelchair to strengthen his legs and 3 months later, he was walking then running.

This past Saturday, a fedex driver in a white car came up our driveway and hit and killed Rooster instantly.

Here is my post on our page:

I don’t even know how to put this into words. A senseless tragedy, a loss I don’t know if I can recover from—our Rooster is gone. The miracle little boy that beat the odds taken from us by FedEx.

On Saturday, a white car came up the drive while everyone was outside enjoying the sunshine. This car could have stopped, multiple times. The driver saw the dogs, Itty Bitty, the ducks, the goose—all of them. But no, he kept going. He turned the corner around the tree, the VERY LAST PART of the driveway right behind where we park and hit and killed Rooster instantly. He could have stopped sooo many times. He saw all the dogs, he could have, he didn’t.

The driver? A FedEx employee.

I rushed out the door as I saw the car through the window, I was going to try and stop him, to tell him to slow down—but I was too late. I didn’t even know why he was there. I yelled. I screamed. He got out and went to the passenger side and looked around. I knew instantly. I screamed. The Cowboy came out, and together we knelt down to look under the car. I lost it. I yelled through tears why was he here, why didn’t he stop and then I saw the magnetic sign on the side of his car…FedEx.

On Saturday afternoon, the Cowboy and I buried our little miracle boy under a tree at the top of the hill, wrapped in his bed and his blanket.

My heart is shattered into pieces. This was Rooster’s home, his safe place to run and play. He was loved and cherished. I have new toys for him for Christmas. I just put his birthday on the calendar. I have never put a photo on my phone screen ever but put one of the Cowboy and Rooster. I joined a Corgi group on Facebook to share his story. It was the first dog that loved me and the Cowboy equally. He was going to get me through the winter and keep me smiling until spring.

This driver drove up 1/4 mile up the driveway to get here. There’s a sign at the end of the drive stating who we are and what we do. UPS slows down and stops. Walmart delivery slows and stops too. But not this time. Not this driver. Not FedEx.

I am broken 💔 I am so sorry. I am posting because he was loved by so many but hated doing it so close to Christmas. I am so very sorry.

Please help us stop these kind of senseless deaths.
