Beth’s Back: “It is great to be home”

Beth Smith Pelham is back in Trion City Schools. Pelham is enjoying her new role as principal of Trion Elementary School, or as she calls it, “the best job in the world.”

‘Beth Smith’ (Pelham) grew up in the town of Trion and was known for not only drop-dead-gorgeous-beauty, but for her kindness. From early on Beth says she knew she wanted to be in education.

“Being an educator has always been my dream. As a student at Trion High School, I was fortunate to participate in the peer tutoring program, where I assisted in several classrooms, including those of Mrs. Mary Myers and Mrs. Janice Bowers,” Pelham said.

She is a proud Trion City Schools alumni. Following high school, she went on to the University of Georgia where she obtained her B.A. in Early Childhood Education. She furthered her education at Piedmont College and Kennesaw State University in pursuit of her M.A. and Ed.S. in Curriculum and Instruction, as well as leadership.

She has been an educator for twenty years, “during this time, I have served in many different capacities in Walker County and Barrow County school districts, which include teaching multiple elementary grade levels, district academic coach, and administration,” Pelham told AllOnGeorgia.

“I am passionate about providing our students with meaningful learning experiences, creating lifelong memories with them, and most importantly, showing them consistent love and care. I not only want to recognize students for academic excellence, but also for outstanding examples of good moral character. It is my mission at Trion Elementary School to foster character, integrity, and academic potential in all students.”

Beth did not return to the Hill alone, her  husband, Jason Pelham, is also an educator, and serves as the principal of Trion Middle School.
