City bids farewell to Gordon Allen

The Summerville City Council recognized the service of former purchasing director Gordon Allen who recently retired. Allen’s ten years of commitment were honored by Mayor Harry Harvey and the council with a Certificate of Appreciation and plaque.

Mayor Harry Harvey commented Allen had always “done whatever it takes to make sure the interest of the city is at heart.”

Allen had much impact on the City of Summerville, one of his last purchases was for the handicap swings at Dowdy Park. “As a person who ran my own business for so many years, I learned how to take care of a dollar,” said Allen.
