Family mourns loss of 3-year-old girl who drowned in Lake Weiss

A Georgia family is mourning the loss of a 3-year-old girl who died after she fell into Lake Weiss.

Kinley Nicole Anderson slipped off a dock and drowned in Lake Weiss on July 13.

Deputies, along with Leesburg Police and Fire, Cherokee County EMA, Cherokee County Rescue Squad, Alabama Law Enforcement Agency Marine Division, and Atrium Floyd EMS, responded to a residence in the Hopewell Community to search for the missing 3-year-old Kinley. She was located in the Lake by public safety personnel.

EMS attempted to save the unresponsive Kinley, but tragically, the child died at Cherokee Medical Center.

“Please join us in praying for the family dealing with this horrible tragedy,” said Sheriff Jeff Shaver in a media post.

Her aunt, Kellye Palas, who lives in Acworth, said the family was at their lake house. Kinley was her brother Brent Anderson and sister-in-law Alli Anderson’s child.

Palas has set up a GoFundMe to help with Kinley’s funeral expenses.
