Fire Breaks Out at Maplewood Apartment Complex in Summerville, Cause Under Investigation

A fire broke out at Maplewood Apartments in Summerville on Tuesday afternoon. The apartment complex is located just outside the city limits of Summerville. Chattooga County Sheriff Mark Schrader confirmed that the fire impacted three apartments. “One apartment was occupied that was a total loss, one was unoccupied that was a total loss and one that was occupied had smoke damage on the inside,” Schrader said.

The cause of the fire is currently unknown. “My investigators are working with the State Fire Marshal to determine the cause,” Schrader said.

Sheriff Schrader said there were no injuries during the fire.
