Judge Denies Bond for Michael Lance Brown in Child Exploitation and Surveillance Case

Michael Lance Brown, a 36-year-old resident of Cloudland, Georgia, remains in custody after being denied bond by Superior Court Judge Melissa Hise in connection with a federal investigation into illegal surveillance and child exploitation. Brown faces a total of 41 charges.

During the bond hearing, Judge Hise stated that Brown’s actions were calculated and devious.

The investigation revealed that Brown secretly recorded individuals using hidden cameras placed in a home where he knew they would undress. The victims were unaware of the surveillance, and the illicit footage was allegedly distributed through the Kik messaging app.

While Brown was employed at the time as a volleyball coach at Valley Head High School in DeKalb County, Alabama, and previously worked in Chattooga County as a technology specialist, DeKalb County Schools in Alabama confirmed Brown’s employment has been suspended. They emphasized that no students in their system are involved and that student safety remains a top priority.

The illegal recordings reportedly took place at a private residence in Chattooga County between May 11 and June 28, 2025.
