Trion to Build “Brinley’s Dog Park”

The Town of Trion is moving forward with plans to build a dog park in memory of Brinley Corbin.

Mayor Lanny Thomas shared that the inspiration for the park came during Brinley’s funeral service. “The speaker said he had asked Brinley what she would do if she were mayor of Trion,” Thomas recalled. “She said she would build more hiking and bike trails, but when I heard him say she also mentioned building a dog park, that resonated with me.”

Taking Brinley’s vision to heart, Mayor Thomas began exploring the possibility of a dog park with Parks and Recreation Director Chris Mosley and Street Superintendent Brandon Croy. After meeting individually with council members and receiving enthusiastic support, the project began to take shape.

The council has approved up to $20,000 for the development of the park, which will include two designated areas: one for small dogs and one for large dogs. Design planning is underway, with the goal of finalizing plans by the end of this week and completing the park by mid-summer.

In honor of Brinley’s thoughtful and giving nature, the park will be named “Brinley’s Dog Park.”

“She may not have served as mayor,” Thomas said, “but through this project, her vision and spirit will continue to make a difference in our town.”

Brinley Corbin was just 26 years old when she passed away after a courageous battle with cancer.
