Lynn Harton, Chairman and CEO of United Community Bank announced bank branches will begin shifting to a drive-thru and appointment-only service model effective Tuesday, March 24, 2020.
In an email sent out to customers Harton explained the changes:
“The banks will remain open for business to continue serving your banking needs. However, to help protect you and our employees amid the concerns over the spread of COVID-19, our branches are shifting to a drive-thru and appointment-only service model effective Tuesday, March 24, 2020.
We are able to handle most services digitally, by telephone or in our drive-thrus, and we will take steps to make this as convenient as possible for you. At the same time, we know certain services such as loan closings, access to safe deposit boxes and wire transfers may require a scheduled in-person appointment. For these situations, please call your local branch during business hours to schedule an appointment. Any branches with additional restrictions or closings will be listed here.
In addition, we encourage you to take advantage of our digital banking tools and telephone banking service which give you the ability to handle many of your banking needs from the comfort of your home.
We will continue to monitor the situation and make operational decisions with guidance from local and federal officials. Thank you for your patience and understanding.”
