Praise the Lord!! My name is Dr. J. Lee Hickman, and I have the pleasure of serving as Senior Pastor of Dry Valley Baptist Church in Summerville, GA. My family and I moved here from the Knoxville, TN, area almost three years ago to follow the Lord in Him leading us to Dry Valley and Chattooga County. For almost three years, we have seen God do an amazing work in and through our church. It has also been a pleasure getting to know our community and leading it in spiritual and biblical ways as the Lord has opened doors for us to do so.
Dry Valley has had a long, rich history of faithful ministry in our area. In the early part of 1939, the people of the valley began to pray for a church, and God saw fit to answer that prayer. On the 7th day of December 1940, an acre of land was given to the church on which the church building now stands. On July 4, 1941, the church met and officially organized Dry Valley Baptist Church, calling Homer Tate as its first Pastor.
Through the years, our church has seen God’s hand on it as we have tried to lift Him high. Our church is what it is today because of the dedication and prayers of the many Pastors, leaders, and members who have faithfully served our Lord Jesus Christ from the church’s beginning in 1941 to the present time.
Since my arrival in mid-2021, we have purchased almost 9 acres next to our existing property to prepare for future growth, called three other pastors who serve the church in specific ministry areas, ordained two deacons to help minister to our families alongside our current deacon body, seen our attendance more than double, seen over 55 people join our church, and, most importantly, baptized and set on the road to discipleship over 60 people. To God be the glory for the great things He has done.

Our Sunday School starts at 9:50, morning worship at 10:50, evening worship at 6:00, and Wednesday night activities at 6:00. We offer tremendous student ministries from birth through college, men and women ministries, different connect groups for all ages of life, and our worship and media ministries.
